Located in the Sheikhpura district in Bihar, Barbigha is currently being represented by Sudarshan Kumar who retained the seat for the Janata Dal (United) by defeating independent candidate Gajanand Sahi by a razor thin margin of 113 votes in the last general assembly elections to Bihar in 2020. Sudarshan Kumar had won the seat in 2015 on the ticket of Congress. He is the grandson of Rajo Singh who was elected from the seat in 1972 as an independent. Rajo Singh was elected an MP from the Begusarai Lok Sabha seat in 1998 and 1999.
