Krishnapuram Palace

Built by the Travancore ruler Marthanda Varma, Krishnapuram Palace at Karthikappally in Kayamkulam near Alappuzha in Kerala is famous for its mural painting depicting the story of Gajendra Moksham. Dating back to the 18th century, this exquisite piece of art is one of the largest murals in Kerala.

The 'Gajendra Moksham' is a colossal  mural depicting an elephant saluting Lord Vishnu as the other Gods, Goddesses and sages look on in reverence.

Within the palace's premises you can find the Kayamkulam Vaal, a unique double-edged sword.
