Located in the Palamu district of Jharkhand, Bishrampur assembly constituency is currently held by Ramchandra Chandravanshi who reatined the seat in 2019 by defeating his nearest BSP candidate Rajesh Mehta in a multi-cornered contest by an impressive margin of 8,513 votes.

Bishrampur is one of the six assembly seats that united to form the parliamentary constituency of Palamu which is currently held by Vishnu Dayal Ram of the BJP who won the seat by defeating Mamta Bhuiyan of the RJD by a margin of 2,88,807 votes in 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Other five assembly segments in the Palamu Lok Sabha are Chhatarpur, Hussainabad, Garhwa, Bhawanathpur and Daltonganj.
