Jatin Das: Revolutionary And Activist


Jatindranath Das or Jatin Das was a political activist and bomb-maker who was an accused in the Lahore Conspiracy Case. He was a key figure in the Hindustan Socialist Republican Army and a comrade of Bhagat Singh. He died from a prolonged hunger-strike for sixty-four days in prison on 13 September 1929. 

After his death the family of the Irish revolutionary and martyr Teren Macswiney sent condolences to his family. He had undertaken fast for seventy-four days.  

Subhas Chandra Bose was among the pallbearers leading his funeral procession to the cremation ground when his dead body reached Calcutta from Lahore where he died while undertaking hunger strike in a jail.
