While the BJP has fielded Lobin Hembrom as its candidate for the 2024 assembly election to the Borio assembly seat, which will be held on 20th November, Congress has nominated Dhananjay Soren.

 Electoral History of Borio Assembly Constituency

In 2005 and 2014 Borio seat was won by Tala Marandi on the ticket of BJP. Lobin Hembrom emerged victorious from the seat in 2000  and 2009 as candidate of JMM.  

Located in the Sahebganj district, Borio is one of the six assembly seats that combine to create the Lok Sabha constituency of the Rajmahal which is currently 

Other five assembly segments of the Rajmahal parliamentary constituency are Maheshpur, Rajmahal, Litipara, Barhait and Pakur.

While the BJP has fielded Biranchi Narayan as its candidate for the 2024 assembly election to the Bokaro assembly seat, which will be held on 20th November, Congress has nominated Shweta Singh who was also in the fray in 2019.  

Saroj Kumari of newly formed party Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JLKM)  is contesting assembly election to Bokaro.

Located in the district of the same name in Jharkhand, Bokaro assembly seat was won in 2019 by BJP's Biranchi Narayan for the second time.  

Electoral History of Bokaro Assembly Constituency 

Biranchi Narayan entered the legislative assembly of Jharkhand in 2014 by the winning the Bokaro seat which he again won in 2019. 

Israel Ansari of the Congress was the winner of the Bokaro assembly seat in 2005 when he defeated Ashok Chaudhary of the JD  (U) by a margin of 5041 votes.

Bokaro is one of the six assembly seats that combine to create the parliamentary constituency of the Dhanbad which is currently held by Dulu Mahato of the BJP. Other five assembly segments of the Dhanbad parliamentary constituency are Sindri, Nirsa, Dhanbad, Jharia and Chandankiyar.

Located in the Santhal region of the mineral rich state of Jharkhand, Jamtara is currently held by Irfan Ansari wo retained the sear Jamtara assembly seat in 2019 on the ticket of Congress. He had also won the seat in 2014. 

His father Furqan Ansari had emerged victorious from Jamtara assembly constituency in 1995 and 2000. 

Jamtara is one of the six assembly constituencies that unite to form the Dumka parliamentary constituency which is currently held by Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) candidate Nalin Soren who defeated Sita Soren by a margin of 22,527 votes in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. 

Sarath, Sikaripara, Nala, Dumka and Jama are the other five assembly segments in the Dumka Lok Sabha constituency.

 

 


2024 Assembly Elections Results of Bishrampur Assembly Constituency

Located in the Palamu district of Jharkhand, Bishrampur assembly constituency is currently held by Ramchandra Chandravanshi who reatined the seat in 2019 by defeating his nearest BSP candidate Rajesh Mehta in a multi-cornered contest by an impressive margin of 8,513 votes.

Other five assembly segments in the Palamu Lok Sabha are Chhatarpur, Hussainabad, Garhwa, Bhawanathpur and Daltonganj.

Anjalai Ammal: Among the First Few Women To Enter State Legislature

Anjalai Amma 

Described by Mahatma Gandhi as the Jhansi Rani of South India, Anjalai Amma was a freedom fighter who fought for the independence of India from the British. She was born in Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu in 1890. 

She became a part of the Non-Cooperation Movement started by Gandhi in 1921. She was 31 and spent many years in prison for her participation in the freedom struggle .  

Anjalai Amma took part in the Neil Statue Satyagraha, Salt Satyagraha, and Quit India Movement. 

In  1931 Anjalai Ammal was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment for participating in Salt Satyagraha and was imprisoned in Vellore prison even when she was pregnant. She was released on bail for delivery for only two weeks. 

Leelavathy was her daughter who was named by Gandhi himself.

Anjalai Ammal  was elected from Cuddalore constituency as a member of Chennai Provincial Legislative Assembly in 1937, 1946 and 1952.

Anjalai Amma died in 1961.

Bhawanathpur assembly constituency is currently held by Bhanu Pratap Sahi  who had retained the seat in 2019. He had won the seat in 2019 as BJP candidate while in 2014 he claimed the seat on the ticket of Navjawan Sangharsh Morcha by defeating BJP’s Anant Pratap Deo who had won from Bhawanathpur seat as a Congress candidate in 2009. 

In 2000 Ramchandra Keshri had won Bhawanathpur seat on the ticket of Samata Party. He had defeated Bhanu Pratap Shahi, then a Congress candidate. 

Located in the Garhwa district Bhawanathpur  is one of the six assembly seats that unite to form the parliamentary constituency of Palamu which is currently held by Vishnu Dayal Ram who won this Lok Sabha seat for the third time consecutively in 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Located in the Bokaro district of Jharkhand, Bermo assembly constituency is currently represented by Kumar Jaimangal Singh who won the seat in a bye-election in 2020 by defeating Yogeshwar Mahto of BJP. The bye-election was necessitated due to the death of incumbent Congress MLA and Jaimangal’s father Rajendra Prasad Singh who had emerged victorious from the seat for six times.

Jairam Kumar Mahato of newly formed party Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JLKM)  is contesting assembly election to Bermo.  

Electoral History of Bermo Assembly Constituency

In 2005 Rajendra Prasad Singh  was defeated by BJP’s Yogeshwar Batul Mahto who had also won the seat in 2014.

Bermo was earlier represented by former Bihar Chief Minister and Congress leader Bindeshwari Dubey.
